Eliminating Tick Bites

po231dIf you have never gotten a tick before, you are fortunate because it is not a fun experience. If you do not know what ticks are, they are small parasitic bugs that attach to your body and essentially suck your blood, sometimes burying deep into the skin. They are not only nasty little creatures, but they also can carry a plethora of diseases, so you should take precaution to avoid getting bitten by them if you are going into an area where they are likely to be. Ticks are notorious for carrying Lyme disease and cause a ton of people to get sick each and every year.

Ticks are most often in thick wooded areas, although you can find them just about anywhere outdoors. They hang out in various plants and bushes and will basically attach to you when you come within close contact. The most common ways that they will get this opportunity is if you brush up against some plants if you are out on a hike or something of this nature. The most common time that a person gets a tick is on a hike or while out camping, but there are a great deal of sprays and other precautions that you can take, which should help you to avoid getting bitten by ticks for the most part. Not only are they risky because they carry Lyme disease and other diseases and will leave a wound on your body, but getting them out of your skin is unpleasant as well.

One of the most common methods for removing ticks is by using a flame. You can light a lighter or a match and hold it near the tick, which should force them out, although there are a few other methods as well. The bottom line is it is not fun and you should take precautions whenever you can to avoid this this issue. Tick control starts by making sure that your legs and arms and various other parts of your body are covered when you are outside and in areas where ticks are highly concentrated. However, this is not practical a lot of the time, due to the fact that a majority of the time that people are camping or hiking it is warm outside and people do not want to be covered up. There are a ton of sprays and creams that you can put on open skin which will deter a tick from biting into you. This is not to say that they won’t jump onto your body as you walk by, but there is a very good chance that they are not going to bite you and if they do, they are definitely not going to like the taste.
